Two-week-long Cambodia-China Joint Military Drill Kicks Off

The two-week-long joint military exercise between the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), known as ‘Golden Dragon 2024’ kicked off at Phnom Chum Sen Rikreay in Kampong Chhnang and Preah Sihanouk provinces this morning.

The event was presided over by RCAF Commander-in-Chief H.E. Gen. Vong Pisen and Admiral Gao Xiucheng of the PLA Navy.

Themed ‘Joint counter-terrorism operation and humanitarian relief’, the ‘Golden Dragon 2024’, the sixth of its kind, is aimed to exchange experiences on preventing and suppressing terrorism, countering enemy drones, and to enhance the military capabilities of the two countries in national defence, regional and global security.

This year’s military drill, which also features live ammunition, attracted the participation of more than 2,000 soldiers, of them over 700 are from PLA, along with advanced weapons, helicopters and even 14 large and small warships.
